PBS traces the history of animated GIFs: deal with it (video)
March 8, 2012 at 8:53 AM

Animated GIFs
PBS's Off Book has a new short doc available online called Animated GIFs: The Birth of a Medium which, as you may have guessed, traces the history and evolution of the animated GIF over the course of a very informative six and a half minutes. The makers don't settle the dispute over pronunciation (and, really, who could), but they do mine its origins as relic of internet eras past to a post-modern staple of web 2.0 culture. We could tell you more, but that would just ruin the fun. Head on after the break to watch the episode in full.

ComScore: US subscriber count reaches 100 million, Android and iOS use continues to climb
March 8, 2012 at 7:42 AM

Oh, ComScore. Every month you come out with a new market share report for smartphones, and every month it seems to offer the same theme: Android and iOS go up, RIM and Microsoft go down. The latest report, which details the three-month period ending in January, shows an increase in Google's mobile OS of 2.3 percent while Apple jumped 1.4; conversely, RIM dropped 2 percent while Microsoft (which likely encompasses WinMo and Windows Phone) went down a percentage point. Individual OEM market share is even more lackluster: LG and Motorola dipped ever so slightly, while Apple jumped up a couple percentage points. Possibly the most noteworthy item in the report, however, is the fact that the total number of US smartphone subscribers has finally exceeded 100 million. That count appears to be growing at an incredible pace, too, so it may not be terribly long before the coveted 200 million milestone is within reach.

SetCPU gets an ICS-like overhaul, makes overclocking easier to do
March 8, 2012 at 6:38 AM

Rooting has gotten a bit easier in Android land as of late, what with certain OEM's getting officially on board with unlock tools. For those who can claim O.G. residence in this underbelly of Rubin's mobile kingdom, however, a premium app known as SetCPU should ring a familiar bell. That Google Play application, useful for overclocking processors, has recently gotten a face lift, aligning its design more closely with Ice Cream Sandwich's visual flair while nixing the previously complicated interface and its dense jargon-y fluff in the process. Included in this version 2.3.0 update is a new frequency slider, governor menu for adjusting processor scaling, added support for multi-core devices and a slew of bug fixes. Sadly, phones sporting Eclair and below have been dropped, but chin up, you can always head to HTC Dev to pursue that Dream.

Skype for Mac gets mild refresh, adds auto updates and improved UI
We know you've had your fair share of troubles adjusting to the fifth iteration of Skype for Mac. Now, Microsoft is issuing yet another quick refresh to go along with the support for HD calls and Lion. This time, though, the desktop app is adding automatic updates -- which should come in handy for those who aren't fans of manual labor -- as well as the promise of an improved UI in group calls, the ability to delete convos and disable audio gain control. Additionally, you'll now be able to use full-screen mode if you're running Apple's King of the Jungle OS. Skype version 5.6 is up for grabs now at no cost, and you can upgrade via the source link below or directly from the application on your machine.

Microsoft Research's shoulder mounted system makes anything a multitouch display
March 8, 2012 at 5:16 AM

Remember the nifty new 3D transparent display, augmented reality mirror, and remote sharing technology that Microsoft revealed just over a week ago? Turns out that Redmond's research arm wasn't done doling out the gadget goodies, as it's now showing off a new Wearable Multitouch Projector that turns any surface into a gesture-sensitive display. Using Kinect-style motion and depth sensing cameras in concert with a pico projector and a PC, you can tap, swipe and pinch-to-zoom to your heart's content on the nearest flat surface. It's currently a rather clunky, cabled contraption, but the touch input does appear to work pretty well, and the researchers who built it think that the tech can be miniaturized to a more user-friendly size in the future. See for yourself in the video after the break.

Nokia Lumia 610 pours out its insides to the FCC, gets accepted
March 8, 2012 at 4:47 AM

The Nokia Lumia 610 hasn't officially found a home in the US, but that doesn't stop it from paying the good 'ol FCC a visit either way. The entry-level Windows Phone sure put on quite the show, too, providing a full set of internal and external pics and a user manual. The device we saw offers 3G connectivity by way of 850 / 1900 radios to allow for AT&T compatibility, which means at the very least you'll be able to import one and get some proper use out of it, even if you don't see the Lumia 610 on a US carrier anytime soon. Take a look below to behold the full visual spread.

HTC Dream gets unlocked bootloader, makes someone's come true
March 8, 2012 at 4:19 AM

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Neither. It's HTC's increasingly creaky-looking Dream and it's just got its bootloader unlocked. Others may remember it fondly as the T-Mobile G1 and the very first Android phone to arrive on the market. For that alone, it deserves some respect and the right to join its ancestors in the unlocked bootloader pantheon. Retrospective tinkerers from the future can head over to HTC's developer site for all the tools.

Sphero + keyboard + iPad = cacophonous synthy fun (video)
March 8, 2012 at 3:52 AM

Shapesynth Sphero
If you're not familiar with Shapesynth, it's a pretty sweet little synthesizer app for iOS that lets you draw waveforms and works with Akai's SynthStation. Its creator, Erik, is also toying with some new code that'll let you use other iOS accessories to control various variables. For example, the Sphero. Sadly, we don't have a ton of details on how it works -- the developer is merely taunting us for the moment. But we can see that by lifting and tilting the interactive ball he is able to manipulate frequency and other parameters. Check out the video after the break to see it in action.

Vevo app brings ad-supported music videos streaming to the Xbox 360
March 8, 2012 at 3:26 AM

The video services Microsoft announced would be coming to Xbox 360 continue to trickle out and the latest is from Vevo. What it brings free of charge (with the exception of the req'd Xbox Live Gold subscription, of course) is a library of music videos that's big enough (45,000 deep) for you to remember when the M in MTV stood for something. An additional bonus is that many of the videos are actually in high definition, unlike the ones broadcast on MTV and Fuse's high definition channels, and when we talked to the company ahead of the launch we were told the audio and video have been reencoded specifically for TV viewing.

There's the requisite Kinect integration for voice and gesture control, and users can create a queue of videos and skip through them without pausing the action, and of course share what they're playing with other users on Xbox 360 and services like Facebook. Best of all, it's not a pay-per-view setup like iTunes or the standard Xbox music videos. There are a few quirks however, like needing to create a Vevo account to get access and the number of clicks it takes to add videos to a playlist. Still, whether you want to autoplay all of your favorite artist's videos or pick one at a time it all works pretty well -- the only problem now is finding something worth listening to. Check the Xbox 360 app marketplace to download it or give the video demo (embedded after the break) a peek.

SK Telecom Smart Learning robots add twist to interactive learning, we go hands-on (video)
March 8, 2012 at 3:03 AM

They aren't quite up to Johnny Number Five's level of fame and stature, but SK Telecom's new "Smart Learning" robots have something it (he?) never could have dreamed of: the power of a smartphone. The mechanical critters are designed to be next-gen educational tools for our posterity, and only function thanks to a Bluetooth-connected Android handset which serves as both the brains of the operation and the interactive display. We saw the robots in action last week at Mobile World Congress in a few different scenarios: a board game, a reading comprehension tool and other clever learning activities. This is just scraping the surface, because an SDK is in the works that will allow developers to find plenty of ways to take advantage of the tech. The robots are still prototypes for now, but we should expect to see them arrive in Korea within the next six months. Check out a video of the little guys in action after the break.

Google plans unified gaming hub for Play, cross-platform titles a possibility
March 8, 2012 at 2:43 AM

In other non-spotlight stealing tech news, Google's set to chop off some of its gaming arms in favor of a sole download hub as early as next year. Plans for this streamlined service were announced by Punit Soni, group product manager for Google+, at this year's Game Developer's Conference. According to VentureBeat, the company's virtual storefronts, which encompass the likes of Chrome, Android and Google+, will all be tied into a single Google Play-hosted destination that should ease game development, potentially making titles accessible cross-platform. In addition to the creation of this one-stop shop, features such as Native Client, Hangouts and a simplified payment system will also reportedly be integrated into the unnamed site. No immediate changes are on deck for this service overhaul, so it'll be a bit before we can see how this "One Google" vision pans out.

iPad 4G plans and pricing revealed
March 8, 2012 at 2:22 AM

iPad 4g
Wondering how much you'll have to cough up each month, and just how much data it would net you if you opted for a 4G model if Apple's new iPad? Well, the image above should tell you all you need to know. AT&T will have three options, starting at $15 for 250MB, $30 for 2GB and going up to $50 for 5GB. Verizon simply skips out on the bargain bin plan, assuming you'll be wanting more if you dropped the extra dough on an LTE-enabled iPad. Big Red kicks things off with a $30 2GB option before jumping to $50 for 5GB and $80 for 10GB. Now, that may sound like a lot of money but, remember, there's no contract to sign here.

Apple ups over-the-air download limit to 50MB for iOS
March 8, 2012 at 1:29 AM

App Store
This tid-bit didn't warrant a lot of attention during Apple's presentation today, but it's definitely worth noting: the limit on downloads from the App Store is now 50MB over-the-air, instead of a paltry 20MB. Now, anything larger than that and you'll still need to hop on a WiFi network, but you probably don't want to chew through your data plan that quick any way. So, enjoy downloading Jaws Revenge without the aid of 802.11.

Tata announces Megapixel hybrid EV, alas, it's just a concept
March 8, 2012 at 1:21 AM

The Geneva Motor Show means one thing: fantastic cars will be dangled in front of our faces, before being snatched away and being told that it'll never see the light of day, as it's "only a concept." The latest vehicle we'd purchase if they'd let us is Tata's Megapixel, a four-seater compact hybrid EV that promises a range of 560 miles (900km) on a single tank of fuel. A hub motor sits atop each of the four wheels, driven by a petrol-electric engine under the cabin, with a wireless inductive charging panel for topping up the batteries at home. It's designed for the city: with a turning circle of 180 degrees in a 2.8 meter space and sliding doors for easy entry. Inside, there's a rear-projected dashboard with a joystick controller (that reminds us of BMWs iDrive) and a smartphone dock for connectivity. Head on past the break to see the vehicle in action and wonder if it'll ever reach the market, like we're doing.

AppleCare+ extended to new iPad, adds two years of support for a fee
March 8, 2012 at 12:50 AM

When the iPhone 4S was announced last year, the fine folks over in Cupertino outed an extended, premium protection plan, dubbed AppleCare+. That service, which boosts the standard 90 days of coverage to two years, in addition to ensuring "up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage," will now also be available to prospective new iPad owners for an additional fee. The company's site isn't specifying just how much it intends to charge for the package -- though you'll have to fork over $49 apiece for hardware service -- nor do we have a firm release date; simply a promise that it's "coming soon." Until then, prepare to handle that A5X beast with kid's gloves.

Got an AT&T iPhone? iOS 5.1 now gives you '4G'
March 8, 2012 at 12:40 AM

Ever since T-Mobile and AT&T began touting their HSPA+ networks as "4G," the debate on the term's legitimacy has raged on. Regardless of how you feel about the matter, one thing's for sure: Apple's finally taken sides on the argument, and the company's all for it. In today's iOS update, Cupertino features an "updated AT&T network indicator," which means you'll see a 4G icon whenever you're in HSPA+ coverage. Granted, this doesn't actually mean you'll enjoy faster speeds -- you'll just have a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that another G just got added to your screen. Such an action makes us wonder if Apple's slowly losing its ability to stand up against AT&T's wishes, not to mention the demands of other US carriers.

Google applies for 'snap a landmark, find your location' patent
March 8, 2012 at 12:11 AM

We're taking a trip into the fantastical world of patents, so the usual disclaimer applies. There's no guarantee we'll ever see this in a product, or that a patent will even be granted. Got that? Good. You're lost in the city and GPS isn't exactly being helpful, so whaddya' do? Well, if this application from Google get's the go-ahead, the solution might be as simple as snapping a pic of the nearest landmark. Uploading the image to Mountain View's servers, it'll compare your image to its geographical database of images and work out the closest match before sending you back your location. If it ever emerges from the two dimensional world of line drawings, it might be a handy navigation tool, or as an even more elegant way of getting around with those rumored Google Glasses.

Fox and Universal titles blocked from Apple TV's iCloud, HBO is the culprit
March 7, 2012 at 11:44 PM

Another season, another reason for Cupertino to update its major product lines (hello new iPad!) and one particular hobby: Apple TV. The revamped box, now imbued with an ability to stream videos in 1080p, will allow users to download previous iTunes store purchases from the iCloud. But before you dive in and revisit those cinematic gems in full HD, bear in mind not every studio is on board. According to All Things D, titles from Fox and Universal's libraries won't be made available as they're currently locked within an exclusive release window with HBO. For the pay cabler's part, a company exec has hinted that a resolution could be forthcoming, although no specific time frame for that peace-making play was specified. It's a down note to an otherwise exciting day in the land of Cupertino, but hey, at least we still have that $99 price point to keep our frustrations in check.

March 7, 2012 at 11:40 PM

See that? That's the first shot we've been able to secure using the new iPad and its "iPhone 4S-esque" sensor. For those unaware, it's rocking a five megapixel sensor and plenty of niceties grabbed from the 4S, and the shot here is entirely unedited in any way. To be honest, it's pretty impressive given the exceptionally challenging lighting situation that we were facing in this here room, with a well-lit backdrop and a poorly lit foreground. Looking for the full resolution version to pore over? Hit up the source link, and forgive us if it loads upside-down.

FCC wastes no time, approves new iPad and Apple TV

In tried and true fashion, the FCC has given the official stamp of approval to Apple's new products almost immediately after they were announced. Making it through the government's watchful eye was the new 1080p Apple TV (A1427) as well as three different versions of the new iPad: the A1403 with Verizon LTE, A1430 with AT&T LTE and the WiFi-only A1416. We're still busy perusing the docs for juicy details and will add as they come. If you're feeling just as adventurous, however, you can find links to all four in the source below.

iOS 5.1 software update now rolling out to iPhones, iPads and iPod touches
March 7, 2012 at 11:30 PM

Well, it looks like we didn't have to wait long for that iOS 5.1 update promised for today. The update is already rolling out to iPhones, iPads and compatible iPod touches. That brings with it a number of improvements and bug fixes, including the previously-announced Japanese language support for Siri, a redesigned camera app for iPad, the ability to delete individual photos from Photo Stream and, somewhat curiously, an "updated AT&T network indicator." What's more, as previously rumored, the camera shortcut is now also always visible on the lock screen for iPhone and iPod touch users.

Update: As a number of commenters have pointed out, it turns out that update to the AT&T network indicator is a change to display "4G" in the status bar, even though the device's connectivity of course remains the same speed as ever.

Well, it looks like we didn't have to wait long for that iOS 5.1 update promised for today. The update is now rolling out to iPhones, iPads and compatible iPod touches. That brings with it a number of improvements and bug fixes, including the previously-announced Japanese language support for Siri, a redesigned camera app for iPad, the ability to delete individual photos from Photo Stream and, somewhat curiously, an "updated AT&T network indicator." What's more, as previously rumored, the camera shortcut is now also always visible on the lock screen for iPhone and iPad touch users.

Twitter brings support for right-to-left languages: volunteers by done localization
March 7, 2012 at 11:26 PM

Twitter's now available in Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu, with the task of translating the likes of the retweet button, list classifications and the fail whale largely done by a task force of volunteers. The languages were added to Twitter's translation to-do list back in January, with around 13,000 helpers getting the job done since then. You can change your settings to one of the newly supported languages in the drop-down account menu, while Twitter continues to plug more lingusitic holes at its translation center -- interested polyglots can consult the second source below.

Apple TV vs. the new Apple TV (2012): what's changed?
March 7, 2012 at 10:56 PM

Apple TV (2012) UI
The Apple TV might still be a hobby, and thus not the main event at Tim Cook's Apple presentation today, but Apple's participation in the living room has had its fair share of rumors, speculation and dreams. The fact that the new user experience of Apple's latest set-top box has been streamlined is the big news today, but that's not the only thing new and after the break we dive into exactly how this generation matches up with its now obsolete older brother.

Netflix on new Apple TV supports 1080p, all boxes get integrated signup and pay via iTunes
March 7, 2012 at 10:47 PM

Even though Apple didn't make any huge changes on its new Apple TV box, it does come with a slight spec bump for Netflix. On the third generation Apple TV, Netflix will take advantage of its higher resolution output with 1080p streams, just like other platforms like the PS3 and Roku. Don't have the new box? You'll still get a slightly more integrated experience, now that new users can sign up directly from the Apple TV, and pay via their iTunes account.

Apple TV (2012) hands-on!
March 7, 2012 at 10:47 PM

It's not that the new Apple TV wasn't rumored, but still -- announcing it here at the new iPad launch? Bold, Apple. Really bold. Looks as if Apple's hobby is now becoming a right-hand man for the iPad, and given the increasing importance placed on AirPlay, it's no wonder that the next Apple TV feels less like a standalone box and more like a killer $99 accessory for your iPad. We got a brief look at the new 1080p-capable set-top box here in San Francisco, and not surprisingly, it's small. Really small. In fact, it's just as tiny as the prior Apple TV. It's hard to glean much about the functionality given the limited setup we're seeing here, but suffice it to say, to-be iPad buyers are apt to become the largest sect of Apple TV buyers if the two are marketed together correctly.

It'll ship alongside the new iPad on March 16th for $99, with a revamped user interface and 1080p output being the only notable differences. Same HDMI output, and we're told that those with slower connections can opt out of 1080p in the settings menu. Moreover, content partners are working around the clock to add 1080p versions to the store, an naturally SD and 720p content will remain for those on older Apple TV units. You can bet that we'll be taking a long, hard look at the wire-free wizardry in our full review; for now, however, there's a gallery of shots below demanding your attention.

Apple new iPad hands-on!
March 7, 2012 at 10:33 PM

Here she is -- the iPad HD! Er, new iPad. Breaking away from the numerical tracking system used before (and still used in the iPhone range), Apple has decided to highlight the most major change in its newest slate by simply dubbing it "new." By and large, the new guy is the same as the old guy (Home button included), but with a few nice amenities that could very well convince OG iPad owners to upgrade. Upon touching the HD variant, it's not the overall form factor that grabs us -- it's the screen. Given that we're unashamed Pixel Density Enthusiasts 'round these parts, seeing a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution display in the same area as the prior 'Pads is stunning. Nearly two months ago to the day, ASUS wowed our entire CES trailer with a reported 1,920 x 1,200 display on the TF700T; this, however, is something that really needs to be ogled to truly appreciate. In fact, the first viewing conjured up familiar feelings -- ones that came to light when placing the iPhone 4 beside the iPhone 3G for the first time.

Unsurprisingly, Apple has managed to produce something that's truly beautiful to look at, and while we've yet to see the full potential of having this many pixels on a 9.7-inch slate, we're guessing a cadre of game developers are already hard at work in order to remedy that. Beyond being dazzling from a density standpoint, colors are sharp and accurate, and viewing angles are predictably ridiculous; even taking a peek from an extreme side angle gives way to a fairly solid image with next to no washout.

The new iPad vs. iPad 2: what's changed?
March 7, 2012 at 10:32 PM

The Apple announcement must have passed you by, but Tim Cook has put an end to this cycle of rumors, speculation and dreams with an actual product, at least for today. We don't expect the user experience of iOS to be anything else but smooth, but for those of us who care about what lingers beneath that 3.1 million pixel display, head on past the break as we delve into how the newest arrival to the Apple family matches up.

Apple drops iPad 2 price to $399 for the 16GB WiFi-only model
March 7, 2012 at 10:19 PM

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Facing soaring demand for budget tablets (and one in particular), Apple has announced it will sell the iPad 2 alongside the new iPad, with last year's model tumbling to a more palatable price of $399. That puts it in more direct competition with a slew of mid-range tabs that previously undercut the iPad, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and others. In particular, though, Tim Cook & Co. hope that lower price will attract not just thrifty consumers, but schools looking to issue iPads in large numbers.

Though this is the first time the company's offering two iPads at once, this strategy is old hat for Apple, which has long been taking that tack to sell more iPhones. What's notable is that usually the trade-off (aside from year-old specs) has always been that users must settle for devices with minimal built-in storage, which you naturally can't expand with a memory card. this being an iDevice and all. In this case, though, the iPad 2 will still be offered with 16GB of built-in storage, as opposed to, say, eight gigs. Still, depending on the size of your library, this might be a good time to get acquainted with iCloud, if you haven't already.

Apple cuts iPad 2 price to $399 for the 16GB WiFi-only model, $529 for the 3G version

That entry-level price in particular puts it in more direct competition with a slew of mid-range tabs that previously undercut the iPad, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and others. Specifically, though, Tim Cook & Co. hope that lower price will attract not just thrifty consumers, but schools looking to issue iPads in large numbers -- a move that dovetails with the release of iBooks textbooks and the iBooks Author OS X app earlier this year.

Apple introduces iPhoto for iPad, updates Garage Band, iMovie and iWork
March 7, 2012 at 10:07 PM

Apple's busy introducing a whole bunch of new apps to go along with its shiny new iPad, and iPhoto is near the top of the list. The "reinvention" of the iconic photo software will be available today for $4.99, and offers a plethora of features, such as bezel gestures, effects, multi-touch editing and direct beaming. You can also easily tweak white balance, exposure and saturation, and you can add geotags, notes and captions. Another highlight of the new iPhoto is the Journal, which allows you to pick and choose certain images for quick viewing. Interestingly, the announcement comes right on the heels of Adobe's competitive offering.

To go along with it, the company's also announced updates to its iWork productivity suite as well as Garage Band and iMovie.

Apple reveals next-generation apps for the new iPad: Infinity Blade: Dungeons, SketchBook, SkyGamblers
March 7, 2012 at 10:06 PM

While Apple's ensured all of it's home-baked apps are making the most of the iPad's retina display and new A5X chipset, it also had a handful of third-party app developers ready to show what the new hardware's capable. First up was Namco, who revealed the iOS-exclusive SkyGamblers, an Ace Combat-styled jet combat simulator, with a whole load of detail crammed into both the plane models and background -- something all those extra pixels can certainly help with and something we'll be testing out when it lands later this month. Taking a different approach, Autodesk's SketchBook app took the opportunity to show off the level of detail its sketches were now capable of, alongside a new engine for the ink. Now, we're not exactly sure what that entails, but we're sure it's going to make our works of art really zing. The app can even export images larger than 100 megapixels and will be out in April. Finally, Infinity Blade developers Epic Games took to the stage to unveil Dungeons -- the next iteration of the swiping and slashing dungeon battler. It looks like the battle system has been recast once again and HDR lighting ensures the game looks likely to arrive dripping in optical honey.

At Apple's ongoing press conference, the company has just revealed its new retina display-equipped iPad will feature high speed LTE connections on Verizon, Rogers, Bell, Telus and AT&T networks, as well as 3G that works around the world. It brings "the most bands ever", but it looks like we'll still be looking at separate devices that work with either Verizon and AT&T, but not both. Besides the 3.1Mbps EV-DO and 7.2Mbps HSPA that were on the iPad 2, the new slates add 21Mbps HSPA+, 42Mbps DC-HSDPA and 73Mbps LTE connections. Not sure you need that speed on your tablet? Maybe your other devices will appreciate it, since these also have personal hotspot functionality built-in.

Siri sort-of comes to the new iPad, does voice dictation only
March 7, 2012 at 9:32 PM

Ever since Siri showed up on the iPhone 4S, she's been put to work in a variety of non-Apple approved ways and unofficially ported to other iDevices, including the iPad. Now Apple's next-gen iPad has made its auspicious debut in San Francisco with a splash of Siri on board. It's not the full voice assistant, but the new slate does have voice dictation software that supports US English, British, Australian, French, German and Japanese.

Apple reveals new full 1080p Apple TV: $99, arrives March 16th
March 7, 2012 at 9:11 PM

It looks like we were blind-sided a little by that decidedly iPad-esque invite, because Apple has something more for us -- it's just announced the latest iteration of Apple TV and it can do 1080p video. The new UI inches slightly closer to iOS territory, with a splash of new color and a whole range of third-party apps willing to play with the new box. This includes access to Photo Stream alongside old favorites like Netflix, Flickr and YouTube. Expect improve connectivity to the iCloud and integration of your iTunes playlists directly from the refreshed UI. The good news; the price is going nowhere -- the new model matches the 2010 version at $99. The bad? You'll have to wait until next week to get your hands on one. Preorders start today.

iOS 5.1 available today, brings Japanese-language Siri
March 7, 2012 at 9:07 PM

We're live from Apple's event in San Francisco where Tim Cook has just announced additional language capabilities for Siri. That disembodied helper ushered in by the iPhone 4S is now getting a localized Japanese equivalent as part of the iOS 5.1 update rolling out today and slated to hit Japan over the next few weeks. Looks like those prior leaks were right on the money. Now we'll just have to wait and see if that camera slider makes the cut.
